How often is cleaning of the heatexchangers necessary? Unfortunately there is no golden rule. The interval depends all on the media used. For marine
applications it is advisable to remove the tubestack once a year (winter). There are a number of crystal solvents available, which when mixed with water can be used for general cleaning purposes. After immersing it should be thoroughly washed down with clean fresh water. A 3mm rod pushed trough the tubes (opposite to the flowdirection) will remove any further obstructions. After assembling new O-seals must be fitted.
Casted aluminum and seawater - does this work? Yes! All components getting in contact with seawater are made out of resistant material, CuproNickel for the tubes and Bronze/ Neoprene for the
endcovers. Further, the aluminum alloy used is resistant too, provided installed into a closed water circuit.
